Tina Akouris endured several challenges before joining Loyola Center for Fitness in the winter of 2014. One family member was diagnosed with cancer and another had fallen and suffered a broken hip. Tina had to care for her two family members and her four-year-old twin boys. The final challenge was when she was laid off from work.
“I found solace in pints of ice cream, gaining weight and being severely depressed. I rarely went to the gym, and after a while, my stomach expanded and I kept hearing the same comment, ‘Oh, look, you’re expecting again!’ I stopped working out altogether — until one of my doctors suggested going to LCF. He told me that LCF was a large gym and that no one was going to bother me,” said Tina.
He was right. Tina says that every time she walks into LCF she doesn’t feel judged.
“It was like that from the time I sat down with Lora Paulauskis to go over a fitness routine that I still keep up with three years later. LCF and its staff saved me from a depression that had such a grip on me I couldn’t see anything positive.”
