At Loyola Center for Fitness, we believe it’s never too late to prioritize your health. That’s why we proudly host our annual Senior Health and Fitness Day, a celebration dedicated to our older adult community. This year’s event was one of our best yet, filled with energy, education, and opportunities to move, learn and connect.

The day included fun classes on the basketball court, informative booths, games, activities, and a free guest day, plus $0 enrollment for new members. Each time we host this event, our goal is to celebrate the importance of staying active and healthy at any age.
New Highlights This Year

We were excited to welcome local senior service organizations, including Oak Park River Forest Senior Services and Blue Ink Insurance Group, who provided valuable resources for attendees. Another highlight was the engaging nutrition presentation by Kevin Pietro, PhD, RDN, LDN, CSSD, Assistant Professor and Director of Dietetics Education Programs at Loyola University Chicago. His session reached max capacity, showing just how eager our members are to learn more about nutrition and healthy living.
A Day Worth Celebrating

Throughout the day, participants enjoyed light snacks, refreshments, booth giveaways, and raffle prizes, including three lucky winners who each received a one-month membership.
One of our participants, Don Zielonka, summed it up perfectly. “My wife Judy and I always look forward to the LCF Senior Health and Fitness Day event. The center staff does a wonderful job of providing valuable information on senior health and they always have fun things to do, making it fun to learn about being healthy.”
Presenter and LCF member Kevin Pietro echoed that excitement. “As a vendor at the Senior Health and Fitness Day, what amazed me most was the turnout. Not only was there a constant stream of people, but the overall level of interest and excitement among attendees was incredibly high. Additionally, participating in the event, alongside other vendors who also prioritize the health and wellness of older adults, was energizing. I hope this event continues, and if it does, sign us up!”
Looking Ahead
We’re proud to provide an event that not only educates but also inspires older adults to embrace fitness, wellness, and community connection. Senior Health and Fitness Day at LCF is truly about celebrating life, health, and the power of staying active at any age.
