If you’re looking for more ways to burn calories, be intentional about how your daily activities can support your fitness goals. Take advantage of the warmer weather and consider those routine summer activities that can be incorporated into your overall fitness routine. Here are a few ideas you can use to stay active in and out of the gym.
Gardening
Pulling weeds, raking and bagging leaves, shoveling dirt, or mowing the lawn can use a lot of energy and burn calories. Keep your landscape outside the home looking well-maintained while burning anywhere from 200 to 500 calories per hour.
Extended walks
Try walking for more minutes than usual and take the time to explore your neighborhood or go for a hike with friends. This can tone your lower body and be a mentally enriching experience. Think about this when you’re parking at a store, golfing, or in a building you can take the stairs a couple of floors up instead of an elevator.
Swimming
Keep cool and complete a low-impact, aerobic workout. Join a group exercise class with our certified swim instructors for a full-body workout that will leave you feeling refreshed and accomplished.
Cycling
Tone your quads, hamstrings and shoulders with a bike ride through the neighborhood, your favorite park or in a cycling studio inside our fitness facility. Even a light bike ride can burn more calories than walking.
Volleyball
Beach volleyball anyone? Whether you live near the beach or visit a sand volleyball court, get your heart rate up while toning your legs, shoulders and core. You’ll burn more calories playing in the sand than on a hard-surface court and have a lot of fun.
